National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in The PAWS Clinic “Hurray for Shelter Pets” Spay/Neuter Program
The PAWS Clinic recently received a $6,500 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love to support its “Hurray for Shelter Pets” spay/neuter program. The Petco Love investment will help The PAWS Clinic spay and neuter at least 140 dogs and cats who were adopted from qualifying organizations at a significant savings to pet parents. Through the “Hurray for Shelter Pets” program, cat spays or neuters will be discounted by $25.00 (the standard fee is $75.00). Those presenting a dog for surgery under this program will receive $75.00 off the price of surgery. Dog surgeries at The PAWS Clinic are normally $200 for dogs up to 75 pounds, with higher fees for larger
dogs.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make
communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has
invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes
for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North
America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in The PAWS Clinic “Hurray for Shelter Pets” program is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently celebrated the one-year launch anniversary of Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet facial recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“The PAWS Clinic is so excited to partner with Petco Love to offer reduced spay/neuter costs for
adopters of a shelter pet. With the support of Petco Love, we are celebrating the love between a pet
owner and a companion recently adopted from a shelter or animal rescue group by proving lifesaving
spay/neuter services. Thank you, Petco Love, for investing in animal loving families in our community,”
said Terra Muscat, Executive Director.
To qualify, an adoption contract from a municipal shelter or 501 (c)(3) rescue group must be presented for the animal at the time of surgery. The contract must be in the name of the person who is bringing the animal at the time of surgery (photo ID required), and the animal must match the description on the contract. The “Hurray for Shelter Pets” program will run as long as funds are available. To schedule your appointment, call The PAWS Clinic on Monday mornings at (313) 451-8200 and leave a detailed message, if an appointment is available, a staff member will call you back to schedule. Appointments are booked only one week in advance. If you do not hear back from the clinic by the end of business on the Thursday of the week you call, please call again the following Monday.
